The Race of the Year

Friday 13th March 2026 marks the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, and the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup is the race the entire week builds towards. It’s the Blue Riband of National Hunt racing — over three miles of raw stamina, nerve and class, with 22 fences between the start and one of the most famous finishing hills in sport.

This year’s Gold Cup field is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory. The defending champion Inothewayurthinkin faces a renewed challenge from Galopin Des Champs, who is bidding to reclaim the crown after two consecutive victories in 2023 and 2024. New contenders including Fact To File, The Jukebox Man (owned by Harry Redknapp), and the grey hope Grey Dawning are all in the mix. Whatever happens, it promises to be an unforgettable afternoon.

And if you happen to be discussing the race with a certain Sir AP McCoy over lunch at Steam a couple of weeks later, well, we can arrange that too.

Your Afternoon at Steam

Arrive from 12.00pm to settle in, take your seat and get your first look at the card. Live racing will be shown throughout the afternoon on screens across the venue, with the feature race — the Gold Cup itself — going off at 4.00pm.

A bookie will be on site and taking bets throughout the day, so you can back your fancies from the comfort of your table. Between races, enjoy a three-course seasonal lunch prepared by our kitchen and served at your pace.

This is Gold Cup Day as it should be — no queuing for screens, no fighting for a table. Just great racing, great food, and the buzz of a proper afternoon at the races, right in the heart of the City.

Perfect for corporate entertaining, client lunches, or simply gathering your crew for one of the biggest days in the sporting calendar.
