Friday 20 November 2026, from noon
Steam Wine Bar, 1 St George’s Lane, EC3R 8DJ
A welcome drink at noon as guests arrive, with Eddie around the room before we sit down. Three course set menu served from half past twelve with wine pairing from our list. Eddie takes the floor for a hosted conversation at half past two, with questions from the tables welcome throughout the afternoon.
The story lands differently over lunch than it does on television. You get the full arc, not just the jump. Coffees and petit fours by four, photographs and a chance for a quick hello before we close.
You may have seen Taron Egerton’s portrayal in the 2016 film. It is a great film. It is also a film. The actual story is funnier, harder, and more improbable, and Eddie tells it himself at Steam without the soundtrack or the feel good ending. Expect the bits the cinema left out.
Wine pairing with the meal is included. These additional packages run the full length of the afternoon if you want to take it further.
House selection from our core list. Two reds, two whites, a sparkling, an aperitif on arrival.
Regional selections from France and Italy, sourced for food friendliness and character.
Single estate choices and a couple of harder to find labels. Our sommelier’s quiet favourite.
Champagne on arrival, classed growth reds, vintage ports at the close. A proper afternoon.
There are other dates in the diary. Speaker lunches, live music, wine evenings, and the occasional comedy night in the basement.
