Tottenham and Portsmouth manager, FA Cup winner, and the wheeler-dealer king of English football
FootballHarry Redknapp has been in English football for more than six decades, and there is nobody with a better story for every chapter of it.
A fast, tricky winger in his playing days at West Ham, Bournemouth and Seattle, Redknapp made his name as a manager. He kept Bournemouth in the Football League on a shoestring, transformed West Ham into a Premier League side built around a young Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole and Frank Lampard, and in 2008 led Portsmouth to an unlikely FA Cup triumph against Cardiff. The following season he took Tottenham from the bottom of the Premier League in October to fourth place and into the Champions League, where they reached the quarter-finals.
He was famously the bookmakers' favourite to become England manager in 2012 and is still the most quoted, most impersonated, most affectionately ribbed football man in the country. His 2018 I'm a Celebrity win, aged 71, introduced him to a whole new audience as Sandra's husband, the jungle's adoptive grandad, and the man who could turn any anecdote into comedy gold.
Since then he has become a bestselling author, television regular, and one of the most in-demand after dinner speakers in the UK. His stories span Brian Clough, Paolo Di Canio, Gareth Bale's early days, the 2008 FA Cup final, and half a century of transfer windows in between.
At Steam Wine Bar, Redknapp brings the full Harry: sharp, funny, wildly indiscreet, and impossible not to listen to.
