Scottish presenter, Sky Sports anchor, and one of the most recognisable faces in British sports broadcasting
BroadcastingKirsty Gallacher grew up in a sporting family and moved comfortably into sports broadcasting as an adult.
Her father Bernard is a Ryder Cup-winning captain: he led Europe to victory at Oak Hill in 1995, and for three successive Ryder Cups in the 1990s her last name carried immediate weight in every clubhouse she walked into. Kirsty chose a different route. She joined Sky Sports in 1996 as a production assistant and quickly moved in front of camera, anchoring Sky Sports News across football, boxing and Formula One coverage for the better part of two decades. Her final stint at Sky ran from 2011 to 2018, and the clarity and screen presence she brought to live sport were trademarks throughout.
Outside Sky she has presented prime time entertainment, competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, co-hosted a daily magazine show on GB News, and carved out a parallel career in ambassadorial work for golf and fitness brands. The range is unusual: most sports presenters either go deep on one sport or diversify into pure entertainment. Gallacher has kept a foot in both camps for almost thirty years.
