GolfThomas Bjorn has spent three decades at the top of European golf, first as a player, then as a captain who led the continent to one of its finest Ryder Cup victories.
Born in Silkeborg in 1971, Bjorn turned professional in 1993 and quickly became the first Dane to play on the European Tour. He has won 15 European Tour titles, including three Rolex Series events, and has finished inside the top ten of three different major championships. His finest major finish came at the 2003 Open at Royal St George's, where he led going into the final round before a double-bogey at the 16th cost him the Claret Jug by a single stroke, one of the hardest losses the championship has ever witnessed.
Bjorn represented Europe in three Ryder Cups as a player, but it was his 2018 captaincy at Le Golf National in Paris that sealed his reputation.
